Phila Health Shop, is the brain child of a veteran Comrade’s Runner and athlete of over 20 years. Meet Duduzile the force behind the brand. Dudu is an avid athlete but her story is far from typical. She made her entry onto the running scene at the age of 44 on the back of shedding some weight, but what started off as jog led to a lifelong love for running. When asked why she runs Dudu says her love for running is fuelled by her love for a challenge and what better challenge that the Comrade’s Marathon often called the ultimate human race.
Dudu has competed in various marathons since, including but not limited to: 13 Comrade’s, 12 Two Oceans, 10 Om Die Dams, 5 Loskops, 5 Cosmos, 1 New York Marathon, 2 Dublin Marathons and hundreds of others.
From a professional perspective Dudu holds a Diploma in Nursing Science & Midwifery (King Edward Hospital Training College) BA Political Science & Developmental Studies (RAU) and she has had a colourful career in the Health Care Sector where she started her journey after completing her Nursing Diploma and graduating Cum Laude in 1976. Thereafter, she has held various pertinent positions in the sector which include: Research Assistant at the University of KwaZulu Natal and First- Aid Trainer and Instructor for several years with St John’ Ambulances. In 1987 she finally made her cross over into the pharmaceuticals sales and marketing space where she held various Medical Representative and Management jobs with well-known brands before she finally decided to venture into pursuing her vision in Phila Health shop.
Dudu has an appreciation of what it takes to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
